CVLX Launches Community Grant Fund

Community groups within Miners Rest and the Ballarat region seeking funds for local projects are encouraged to apply for potential funding as provided by the Central Victoria Livestock Exchange (CVLX) Community Grants Program.

Launching the new community fund today, the operators of CVLX, Regional Livestock Exchanges (RLX), have committed to donate up to $30,000 to fund quality local initiatives and programs that reflect the region’s key priorities.

RLX Spokesperson, Garry Edwards, said he anticipated there would be strong interest in the CVLX Grant Program.

“Miners Rest, Ballarat and surrounding townships have many active community groups working to improve their local community, drive resident participation in local events or enhance the local environment,” he said.
“We’re really keen for the CVLX Grants Program to be a catalyst for even more new and exciting projects getting underway and delivering noticeable benefits for the community”.

Selection criteria for the CVLX Grant Program have been developed following feedback from members of the CVLX Community Liaison Committee, to ensure grants reflect the interests and values of the local community.

The Committee meets regularly to discuss updates on the construction project as well as provide community feedback to the onsite project team.

“Making sure local residents have a say in the grants process was really important to us as they have the best knowledge of this community and what it needs to continue to grow and prosper,” Mr Edwards said.

Construction of the CVLX facility, on the Sunraysia Highway, is well advanced with a targeted mid-year completion.

To date, RLX has awarded a total of $8 million to local business and contractors to help build the facility.

“CVLX will be a major contributor to the local economy – both via direct investment and by providing a world-class marketplace for the sale of livestock for Central Victoria’s livestock producers,” Mr Edwards said.
