Total Store Sale Yarding - 2097 Numbers were back for this month’s store sale and the reduction came with less cow and calf units. Weaners were well supplied and there were a few more yearlings offered. Quality was fair to good with some cattle showing the effects of the summer condition. The market held very close to firm with a mostly local buying group. Light weaner steers sold from $335 to $635/head. Medium weights sold to $920 and heavy weaners reached $1000/head. Most averaged 270c to 330c/kg. Light weaner heifers sold to $730/head for light Charolais. Medium weight heifers made from $450 to $640 and heavy weights topped at $785/head. Most averaged 210c to 230c/kg. Steers sold to $1020 and heifers to $830/head. PTIC Angus cows reached $1300/head. Total yarding - 9930 Lamb numbers declined and quality was varied with the shorn lambs showing good condition, while the new seasons tended to lack finish throughout. There were mainly trade weights penned, while heavy lambs were limited in number and stores were well supplied. All the buyers were operating and competition was slightly weaker resulting in an easing trend. Light lambs to the processors averaged $117, while stores averaged from $98 to $136/head. Medium and heavy trade weight lambs were $2 to $5 cheaper and averaged from 640c to 660c/kg cwt, most heavy trade weights sold from $144 to $156/head. Heavy weight lambs were $5 to $6/head cheaper and averaged from 635c to 660c/kg cwt. A few pens of heavy and extra heavy weight lambs sold from $165 to $180/head. Mutton numbers increased and quality was generally mixed with some larger lines of sheep offered and most grades fell $5 to $10/head. Medium first cross ewes sold from $70 to $94/head or 380c/kg cwt. Heavy first cross ewes sold from $107 to $144 averaging 410c/kg cwt, while heavy Merino wethers sold from $120 to $140/head or 400c to 430c/kg cwt.
